The Famous Central Café at Christmas
This is an interior shot (circa 1945) of the Central Café located on Clinton Avenue between Johnson and Mahoney Men's Ware and the Crystal Drugstore. Huntsville's Clinton Street parking garage occupies the space now.
The picture was made from the rear of the business toward the café's famous "glass half-moon" swinging doors entrance.
The picture made during the Christmas holiday season. The Café always had a festive air during the holiday season. Besides the delicious food served, notice the large thirty gallon, chrome, gas fired coffee maker, loaded with fresh ground coffee from the local A & P*. The coffee at ten cents a cup, was a favorite of the patrons.

*The same A & P can be seen in the distance in the popular Elks Building picture. The A & P was located on Greene Street.
