"The First Methodist Church of Huntsville was initially built on Clinton Street in 1821. It was moved to a new church building that was erected in 1832 but burned on January 6, 1864 due to careless cooking fires in the basement from occupying Union soldiers in the Civil War. The third church building, as it stands today, began construction in 1867 and was finished in 1870. It stands now on Randolph and Green Streets.Date: unknownRights: Alabama Mosaic; Huntsville Madison County Public Library
