GARNER-PORTER HOME, Randolph Street
Samuel Garner built this house for his bride, Dixie, in 1895. It is an example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture with gables, alcoves and porches. The front circular porch has turned posts and gingerbread fretwork. The Porters received an Award of Merit from the Alabama Historical Commission in 1976 for the work in the field of preservation and for designing and creating an authentic doll house replica of an architectural landmark in the Twickenham District of Huntsville. Sketched in 1976 by R. Daniel Proctor during the Randolph Street Fair.
