"Oaklawn Plantation, at 2709 Meridian Street, is believed to have been built by John Robinson around 1844. The home, an outstanding example of Greek Revival architecture, was used as Federal officers' quarters during the Civil War, and remained undamaged. Oaklawn served as a hospital during the Spanish-American War."
