6 Cruse Alley SE

The Meiers Home, Cruse Alley
Built by Mr. and Mrs. J. Fred Meiers, Jr., the site of this Charleston-style house at Six Cruse Alley was originally the fruit orchard and cutting garden belonging to the old Cruse home facing Adams Street. The Meiers purchased the property in 1970 and chose a close friend, Nashville architect Batey M. Gresham, to design the house.
In 1984, the double porches, pool and pool house were added on the garden side of the house. Typical of so many Charleston or Savannah-style homes, the entire property is surrounded by a brick wall with wrought iron entrance gates, giving the porches, pool and garden area great privacy. Sketched by Lee Harless in 1988.
