Steele-Montgomery Home, Randolph Street
George Steele, noted antebellum architect, designed and built this house for his residence in ca. 1824. Federal in style, it was updated in the 1840's with Greek Revival details. The house contains a basement kitchen with a large cooking fireplace which is unusual for a house of this period. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Montgomery bought and refurbished the house in 1987. Painting is by Jerry Whitworth.
