JOHN HUNT MORGAN-STOCKTON HOME, Franklin Street
A classic Italian Revival facade, added in the 1850's by the Stephen Neal family, masks the Federal house, ca. 1824, in which John Hunt Morgan of Civil War fame was born. Sketched in 1978 by Lee Harless, Jr.
About the Morgan-Stockton house:
. . . I read endless stories . . . propped against the front window — mostly Kipling but Joel Chandler Harris, as well, and Nathaniel Hawthorne.
