(Maples) Butler, natives of Poplar Ridge: grandson of Canada and Nancy (Maples) Butler of Poplar Ridge, the former a native of Tennessee, who was a member of the Alabama legislature at the time of his death in 1862, and of Rev. Army, the latter a descendant of the Stuart family of Scotland; granddaughter of Lockie McAdoo, a descendant of the McAdoo family of the Revolutionary War; great granddaughter of William Batey, of Virginia.
