• "He volunteered for military service in the Revolutionary War and served as a Private in the South Carolina Militia in Captain Thomas Langdon's Company under General Williamson. He was a sergeant in the First Regiment and was shot through the thigh in a skirmish with Tories on 22 November 1775 and lost the use of his leg. Because of his disability, he applied for a pension in Madison Co., 16 November 1818, Pension S 24966. Robert received a pension while a resident of Lowndes Co., Alabama in 1821. His son William was appointed agent to receive payments for his father." - Cozby Family
