Early SettlerNotes:• Record lists early settlers showing up on squatter's lists, tax records, etc in Madison County. Jessey and Joseph are the first recorded Evans males on record in 1808. Two others, Thomas and William, are found on records dating 1811. - Record
• "This is not a list of land patents. Thomas Freeman was acting as Registrar to take applications from squatters desiring permission to remain on the land they occupied in Madison county until land sales were held in August 1809 in Nashville. The squatter made application, paid a small fee of six shillings, and Freeman registered them." - 1807 Squatters List
