•  "A. FRANKLE. Merchant, Huntsville, was born in Russian Poland in 1835, and came to the United States in 1860. He located first at Mobile, and subsequently joined the Twenty-second Louisiana Regiment, while it was encamped at Mobile. He served with this regiment until the surrender of Vicksburg, after which he was in heavy artillery. From Mobile he moved to New Orleans, and from there to Shelbyville, Tenn., where he engaged in the dry goods and clothing business. In November, 1886, he came to Huntsville, where he carries on one of the largest dry goods establishments in Northern Alabama. He was married in Shelbyville, Tenn., to Miss Lizzie Yancey, of that place. Miss Yancey was the daughter of James Yancey, and was distinguished for her beauty. The Yanceys are among the oldest and wealthiest families of Tennessee. Mr. Frankle was a member of the Masonic fraternity. K. of P., K. and R. A. C. In addition to his Huntsville business, he carried on his establishment at Shelbyville. He began life in America penniless, but succeeded in amassing a fortune." - DeLand and Smith
