•  The veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 2702 was chartered on June 5, 1945, and is named the Gentry-Isom Post. "Mr. Gentry was the first Madison County soldier killed in World War I and Mr. Isom, a sailor, was the first killed in World War II from our county." - Sesquicentennial

•  Private, Co. C., 167th Infantry, 42 Division. Died March 11, 1918, of wounds that were received in action while fighting gallantly. Awarded distinguished service cross. - Military Times

•  "In the World War I Draft Registration of June 5, 1917, he was described as being tall, slender with blue eyes and brown hair. He was 21 years old, single at that time and employed as a cotton mill worker at Dallas Mill." - Find A Grave
