•  "A native of Birmingham, he was educated in Birmingham, at Vanderbilt University, and the University of Chicago, before obtaining his doctor of divinity degree in 1917 at Birmingham College. In 1904 he was ordained to the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. From 1905 to 1909 he was pastor of churches in Birmingham and Ensley. From 1909 to 1933, with the exception of the period 1916 to 1925, he was the presiding elder in the Albertville, Talladega, and Tuscaloosa districts and at the Athens Station. From 1933 to 1936 he served as pastor, Avondale-Grove Park Church in Birmingham, and from 1936 until his retirement as pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church of Huntsville. From 1916 to 1925 he served as president of the Athens College for Young Women (now Athens State College). He also was president of the Alabama Association of Colleges in 1920." - Marks

•  "As a result of an automobile accident in which he was involved in the early part of 1940, Dr. Glasgow, while still able to preside in limited service over many of the affairs of the church, was not well enough to hold Sunday Services. On June 17, 1940, Bishop J. Lloyd Decell, appointed William W. Scott, then a student at Vanderbilt, to assist Dr. Glasgow. From Sunday June 23rd until the close of the conference year in November of 1940, the Rev. Mr. Scott commuted from Nashville each week-end and filled the pulpit of First Church for two services each Sunday.
     Huntsville, First Church was the last pastorate of the Rev. B. B. Glasgow. He died at his home in Athens, Alabama on September 9, 1942, and since that time Mrs. Glasgow has lived in Tuscaloosa." - Ford & Van Valkenburgh

•  "Dr. Ben B. Glasgow Succumbs In Athens
     ATHENS. Ala-Funeral services for Dr. Ben B. Glasgow, 61-year-old retired Methodist minister and former president of Athens College, will be held at the Avondale Methodist Church in Birmingham at 11 a.m. Thursday.
     Rites were also held at the Athens First Methodist Church Wednesday with Dr. B T. Waites, pastor, officiating. Dr. G. F. Cooper will officiate in Birmingham. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery here.
     Dr. Glasgow died at his home here at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, after a long illness which forced his retirement from the ministry last year. He is survived by his widow and a daughter, Mrs. Signa Glasgow Irwin, of Cleveland. Ohio.
     Dr. Glasgow was born in Birmingham and was graduated from Birmingham-Southern Collage and Vanderbilt University. He came into the North Alabama Methodist Conference as a local preacher at the age of 16. His first charge was the Virginia Mines in the Tuscaloosa district.
     He was made a presiding elder at the age of 29, and later held a number of choice charges in the conference. He was president of Athens College 10 years.
     Dr. Ben Glasgow was pastor of the First Methodist Church in Huntsville for three years, and served several churches in Birmingham, including the Avondale Methodist Church.
     Other survivors are three sisters, Mrs J. M. Bonds. Birmingham; Mrs. W. I,. Berry. Bessemer: Mrs. H. A. Powell. Lincoln; four brothers, H. G. Glasgow, Fairfield; J. D. Glasgow and W. H. Glasgow, both of Birmingham and M. A. Glasgow, Jr., Bessemer and his mother, Mrs. M A. Glasgow, Sr., Bessemer." - Ancestry.com
