Notes:• Michael's name is included in a list of the first area landowners near Madison. His land was just east of old Madison. "Today the Cemetery is located on his land near Horizon Elementary School." - Rankin
• His descendants intermarried with Gillespies, Trotmans, and Crutchers, among others of the Madison pioneers. - Rankin
• At the time of his death, he was married to his third wife, Sarah Trotman Farley. They were married in 1826 in Madison Co., AL. They had four children: a daughter named Sarah, and three sons named James Wesley, William P., and Albert. Both William and Albert died in early manhood without marrying. Sarah married her cousin, Dr. Tom Trothman. She bore four children, two died in childhood. James Wesley had eight children. - Spragins
