•  Dr. Ainsworth received the B. A. degree from the University of Mississippi and the M. A. degree in 1946. He received the Ph.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley, 1950. - Grove

•  In December of 1947, he married Edith Wetzel of Berkeley, California. He is a member of Sigma Xi; of Sigma - Grove

•  He is a member of Sigma Xi; of Sigma Pi Sigma (Physics); of Pi Mu Epsilon (Mathematics), and of Phi Kappa Psi (Social) fraternities. He holds membership in Scientific Research Society of America, and in the Royal Canadian Astronomical Society. - Grove

•  During World War II, Dr. Ainsworth served in the United States Navy from 1940 to 1942. - Grove

•  He is the son of Richard Henry and Harriet (Henly) Ainsworth, of English descent. - Grove

•  Pi Sigma (Physics); of Pi Mu Epsilon (Mathematics), and of Phi Kappa Psi (Social) fraternities. He holds membership in Scientific Research Society of America, and in the Royal Canadian Astronomical Society. During World War II, Dr. Ainsworth served in the United States Navy from 1940 to 1942. Politically, he is a "Dixiecrat". His hobbies are flower gardening and music. - Grove
