•  "Mr. Boyd received the B. S. degree from the United States Naval Academy and the M. A. degree from George Peabody College for Teachers, Nashville, Tennessee. He did additional graduate work at the University of Colorado; University of Denver, and Colorado State College." - Grove

•  On August 21, 1948, he married Nancy E. Whitaker of Hohenwald, Tennessee - Grove

•  "Mr. Boyd was engaged as Instructor at Georgia Military Academy, 1948-1950. From 1951 to 1954, he was Instructor, U. S. Air Force Schools, Denver, Colorado. He was Associate Director, Flying Training Air Force Supervisor School, Craig Air Force Base, Alabama, from 1954 to 1956. He was Chief, Testing Section, Training Standards Branch, U. S. Army Ordnance Guided Missile School at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama. He was also Instructor in Psychology in Extension, University of Alabama. Mr. Boyd was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, Honorary Education Society; of Kappa Phi Kappa, Education; and of Phi Alpha Theta, Honorary History fraternities. Receiving the commission of Ensign, United States Navy in 1943, he retired with the rank of Lieutenant in 1946." - Grove
