•  James Record created a list of early settlers in Madison County, Alabama. This is what he says about his list: "The earliest known county residency is shown. Various spellings of names from source records are listed. Sources were: the 1809 Census (actually an 1808 'Squatters List' ); 1810 and 1811 tax records; Records of Superior, Orphans, and early Justice courts; and various genealogical records and histories. •  Mrs. Fisk researched the buildings in early Huntsville. She said this about the building on the North Side of the Square (Jefferson Street Corner): "Early occupants cannot be positively identified, but from 1819 to 1821 Benjamin Patteson & Co. (Brice Garner) kept a general store in the building. On January 12, 1821 they announced dissolution of their partnership. This was one month before White bought the property." - Fisk

•  "Brice purchased land in Madison, Limestone, Lawrance, Lauderdale and Franklin counties in Alabama. He was a surveyor and one of the Trustees of the Russellville Land Company that plotted the town of Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama" - Roots Web

•  "Brice's death was surrounded by mystery. He was on the way to the bank in Atlanta, Georgia, with several servants and a satchel of gold. Near a farm Brice owned at Brown's Ferry in Limestone County, Alabama, he was supposedly thrown from his horse and died instantly.
