"Bill Giardini has been volunteering at Habitat for more than 20 years, longer than almost anyone else. He has been an inspiration to everyone over those years and when we asked him to share a few thoughts with us, he was happy to oblige!
'When I retired, in 1989, I made a pledge to myself that I would not work for pay again unless I become destitute. Habitat for Humanity offered an opportunity to indulge myself in an activity that would provide lots of fellowship, lots of physical exercise, lots of being outdoors, and the satisfaction of serving others. volunteering with Habitat has been a great hobby. As I grow old and have time to be philosophical, I have come to realize the words of the Lord's Prayer: Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.... are literal. Heaven can be here on earth. When I step out of myself and do things for others, the warmth I feel inside is the experience of heaven. Habitat has let me experience heaven a lot. • Huntsville-Sand Mountain Region of Alabama Citizens for Constitutional Reform: "The chapter has been active in promotion of ACCR initiatives, including a held February 26, 2008, between Lenora Pate (chair of the state ACCR Inc. board) and Mo Brooks (county commissioner and opponent.), a petition drive that was begun in 2005 and resulted in over 60,000 signatures statewide. That petition drive was the brainchild of Bill Giardini, our chapter's long-time sparkplug." - Constitutional Reform
