•  Jack Giles dead at 66
     HUNTSVILLE (AP) - Jack Giles, who served as director of the state Department of Industrial Relations during George Wallace's administration, is dead at the age of 66. Funeral arrangements were incomplete. Giles, who died Saturday, was admitted to the hospital Friday night after he suffered an apparent heart attack.
     Giles, a former state senator from Huntsvtlle, was chairman of the Alabama Space Science Commission at the time of his death. He also has served as a Huntsvtlle city Judge, president of the Huntsville Bar Association and a Madison County Circuit Court registrar. He was a member of the Troy State University Board of Trustees.
     Giles is survived by his wife, Marjone, two sons, Jack Giles Jr., of Huntsville, and Tom Giles of Birmingham, three daughters, Phyllis Giles and Judy Moon, both of Birmingham, Mary Grace Giles, of Huntsville, and three sisters. - Tuscaloosa News
