• "William Golden, a soldier in the War of 1812, born 1776 in Virginia, married Mary Turner, born 1776 in Virginia. They settled in northeast Madison County early 1800's. At an auction after his death, some of his slaves were sold for up to $1200. William died in 1852 and Mary died 1860. They are buried at the St. Clair Cemetery on Ray Road in Hurricane Valley." - Campbell
• Military History: "Was drafted at Lincoln City, Georgia. The first day of November AD 1814 for a term of six months and continued to serve in said War for the term of six months and was honorably discharged at Darien, Georgia on the ___ day of March AD 1815 and will appear by the muster rolls of Capt Read's company, his discharge being lost or destroyed." - Ancestry.com
