•  "They came to Madison County from Lincoln County, Georgia and acquired land in 1811." - Wood

•  "William Golden, a soldier in the War of 1812, born 1776 in Virginia, married Mary Turner, born 1776 in Virginia. They settled in northeast Madison County early 1800's. At an auction after his death, some of his slaves were sold for up to $1200. William died in 1852 and Mary died 1860. They are buried at the St. Clair Cemetery on Ray Road in Hurricane Valley." - Campbell
