Gurley Cemetery
Obituary: The Gurley Herald.
“Mr. Jonathan J. Beason, well known to the Gurley people, died at his home at Deposit Tuesday from a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Beason was 75 years, 8 months, 24 days old. He has lived a long and useful life and was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a faithful member of the Baptist Church.
He was buried in the Gurley cemetery Wednesday morning by the local lodge
of Masons and Rev. Ed Rice conducted the religious service.”
Styles. Simeon Styles. Born Apr. 3, 1830 - Died July 1, 1901.
Obituary: The Gurley Herald of 4 July 1901. “Mr. S. S. Styles, a highly respected citizen of this place, died at his home last Sunday afternoon after an illness of several months.
He was 71 years of age. He was a good citizen, kind neighbor and a consistent member of the Baptist Church. He leaves a wife and several sons and daughters to mourn his loss.
“He was buried in the Gurley cemetery Tuesday morning at 8 o'clock after the funeral services at the residence by Rev. W. H. Pettus.”
