Gurley Cemetery Walker. Matilda G. Walker. Dec. 15, 1854 - Nov. 19, 1931. Walker. Elijah F. Walker. Born May 9, 1843 - Died Jan. 13, 1907. (CSA marker No. 527 on grave). [Note: Elijah F. Walker m. Emma J. DeBow 25 Jan 1870. He was a Capt. in the CSA.] Obituary: Weekly Mercury of Jan. 16, 1907: “Death Record. - Capt. E. F. Walker dies at Home in Gurley. - He was a Captain in the Confederate Army .” “News of the Death of Capt. E. F. Walker, for many years one of the most prominent and popular citizens of Madison County, died at his home in Gurley on Sunday after an illness of several weeks. He was for several terms a Representative in the Legislature and was County Commissioner at one time. “Capt Walker was sixty-five years old and was Captain of a regiment of Kentucky troops during the Civil War. He acquired considerable property being one of the largest land owners in this county. “He is survived by his widow who was formerly Miss Gurley, sister of Capt. Frank B. Gurley. His surviving children are Frank Walker, A Pullman Car Conductor; William Walker, a lumber dealer, and two youngest daughters. Note: The following is his obituary, dated 6 Feb 1908: “With sad emotion, we record the death of our well known citizen, Mr. Warren Keel, who died at his home on College Hill last Sunday morning Feb. 2, 1908 at 9 o'clock. This death was a shock and surprise to many of his friends. Mr. Keel was in town Thursday afternoon and was stricken that night with pneumonia, only confined to his bed three days. “Mr. Keel was 50 years of age and was married to Miss Edith Childress on May 30th 1875. To this union 13 children were born, five of whom are dead, leaving a wife and eight children, six boys and two girls to mourn their loss. The funeral services were conducted by Rev.
