May 1, 1902. “Mrs. Nancy Lou Ivey, 80 years, 3 months, and 18 days of age, died Wednesday the 23rd inst. Was buried here 24th and was followed to her last resting place by a host of sorrowing friends. Aunt Ivey, as she was familiarly called by all who knew her, is no more. Hamilton. Clemensa Jane Pickens Haden in buried in the Pickens Cemetery. Her tombstone states: “In Memory of Jane Pickens Haden -1833 - 1867.” The late William Drake stated she had three noteworthy sons: Wade Haden, Charley Haden (an ambassador) and Hugh Haden. She died at Summitt, Marshall County, Alabama in mid-winter during an abnormally cold period. The Tennessee River was frozen over and she was brought back for burial in a wagon. Her brother lived here at the time and his dog howled throughout the night she died even though the family in Madison County did not get word of her death until many hours later. 49 - (1032)
