Obituary of J. Eugene Drake From the Huntsville News of April 10, 1969
A funeral for J. Eugene Drake, 73, of the Big Cove Community, who died Tuesday night at the Huntsville Hospital, will be Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Walter James and the Rev. Dale Shelton, officiating.
Burial will be in Drake Cemetery with Laughlin Service directing.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Alma Taylor Drake; three sons, Howard Wilson Drake of Arab, Bobby G. Drake of Gurley, and Thurman N. Drake of Huntsville; a daughter, Mrs. David MCord of Holly Tree; two brothers, the Rev. Burns P. Drake of Big Cove and
Nolan H. Drake of Madison; three sister, Miss Lizzie Mae Drake of Huntsville, Mrs. C. M. Talley of Stevenson, and Mrs. Robert Whitfield of Paris, Tennessee; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be James Allen Taylor, Robert Drake, Luther Drake, Shelly Drake, Ernest Drake, Gary Drake, William Pickens Drake, and Arthur Stanford
