King-Brazelton and Worley Cemeteries
Location: Section 23-4-1E. SW SE. On hill above the Seventh Day Adventist Junior Academy (previously the Big Cove School) on Highway 432 East. This old family cemetery is located in a large grove of trees several yards up the hill southwest of the school.
Note: The maps call this the King Cemetery but I could find no King tombstones. Two Brazelton girls married Kings. Tulletha [Brazelton] married James H. King 20 Feb. 1839 and Clamenzy T. [Brazelton] married William S. King 23 Dec. 1840. There were two groups of very old above-ground stone vaults without identification which appeared to be the oldest markers in the cemetery. One group was made up of one adult grave and the graves of two children. The others, a group of five, were undoubtedly all adults. It is my supposition that these ancient graves are those of some of the Kings and of Henry Brazelton (who patented this land in 1811), along with his wife and some of his children. Henry is shown on the 1840 census but not the 1850 census which indicates he died between those years. Vinca Minor covered a great portion of the old graveyard and there were many sinks that indicates there are graves there without markers.
