Note: There were four rock, rectangular above-ground tombs in this cemetery. It is uncertain who is buried there. One has a CSA marker No. 329 by it.. Confederate Veterans Record says Iron Cross No. 329 was marking the grave of L. G. James and that he was buried in Campground Cemetery in Big Cove. The 1907 Confederate Census shows Lewis Good James, born Sept. 27, 1832 at Scottsboro “in Bibb County.” [Note: Scottsboro is in Jackson Co., not Bibb.] He entered service in May 1861 at Boone's Hill, Tenn. in Co. A, 32nd Tennessee and continued until Lee's surrender. Young. David Layne Young - March 23, 1860. Baby. In Heaven. Winkel. Leo Winkel. Born Dec. 29, 1930 - died . . . 194 .... [Note: This was hand-carved on a rock and was partially illegible.] MOORE CHAPEL CEMETERY (HOLMES CEMETERY) Location: Section 10-4-1E. E/2 E/2 SE SE. This ancient burial ground is located one-third mile south of Dug Hill Road at the edge of a subdivision called Twickenham Manor. The TVA maps list this as the Holmes 203 - (1186)
