Green Valley Cemetery (Edward Han Vann) This cemetery was originally the Edward Han Vann Cemetery which included members of his family. This large cemetery is on a hill and extends down the hill to the road. At the top of the hill is a copse of trees under which there are no markers. It is believed that Edward H. Vann and some of his family members are buried here including his wife, Elizabeth Brazelton. They were married 29 June 1825 in Madison County, Al. Edward Han was born to Thomas and Ann Vann in 1793 in North Carolina. According to his probate file (No. 2124) he died in Madison County in 1857. The 1850 Census shows this family as follows: Vann, Edward H. 57 (1793) NC Farmer - $1600. Elisabeth 49 (1806) SC Marthy C. 16 (1834 Al m. Ginnett A. Morring 20 April 1854 Elazarus H. Ernie Ritch, president of the SAR chapter, presided. Other organizations participating were the ALSAR Color Guard and American Legion Post 237. “Among those taking part in the ceremony were the Rev. Henry Tuttle, David Milam Roy Maynard, Oscar Glover, Jim Alexander, Hoyt Smith, Charlene Pace and Eloise Shannon. “Guests included SAR members Ron Hildrith, Alabama state president, Ed Whorden, Alabama state secretary, and Jim Maples, Alabama state treasurer, and from the state DAR organization, Renee Pruitt, commemorative events chairwoman. “Other DAR chapters represented at the event were Twickenham Town, Tidence Lane, Hunts Spring and Huntsville.” Copied by Dorothy Scott Johnson in 1990's.
