Cemeteries of Madison County, Vol. III, page 211

Wright Cemetery. The Huntsville Democrat of 31 March 1847 announced the death of Robert Wright, Sr. It stated he died March 24, 1847 aged 85 years and 17 days [born 7 March 1762]. He was a native of Amherst County, VA. Wright was at the siege of York and assisted in the capture of Cornwallis. DAR records show he was a Lieutenant and married Keziah Bibb. His obituary further says he emigrated to Madison County in 1818 where he lived until his death. I have information from descendants that the late Dr. Ambrose Grayson called this cemetery the “Wright Cemetery” and he stated Robert Wright is buried here. Wright owned land near here. According to Dr. Grayson, the Chestnut Grove Church once owned the land on which this cemetery is located and may, in fact, be where the early members of this church are buried. His family owned the property since 1888 which they purchased from George Grayson. Mr. Childress stated he wanted to establish his own cemetery here, however, several years later, when visiting this graveyard, I could find no evidence of one being established. The following Joel P.
