George & Sarah Taylor Cemetery Location: Probably in the NW/4 of Section 20-3-2E which is the land George owned. The Flint River runs through this quarter and tradition says George and Sarah are buried on the banks of the Flint. Valiant attempts have been made to locate the graves without success. This river is known to flood and if, in fact, they were buried on its banks all traces have probably been washed away. Sarah (Jennings) Taylor was born in Lexington, Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Her date of birth is unknown. She died several years before George and lies in an unmarked grave, presumably next to the unmarked grave of George, her husband. On March 6, 1818 she signed away her right of dower in the land when her husband sold it to John Brown. This establishes the fact that she was alive at that time. George Taylor was born ca 1762 in Richmond, Virginia and died in 1826 [1843?] in Madison Co., Ala. On 6 Mar 1818 he and Sarah [Called Sally in deed but signed Sarah] Sold 82 ac. in Sec. 20 “being all of the NW/4 of Sec. 20 lying east of Flint River and including the island in said river opposite Brown's mill.” This sale was to John Brown. This transaction left Taylor with the part west of the river. Then on 18 Feb 1819 he purchased the E//2 of the NE/4 of Sec. 19-3-2E which was next to the property in Section 20. This would make one believe he and Sarah were buried on the west bank of the river. George and Sarah were married after the Revolution and they moved to Madison Co., Ala. in 1810. 228 - (1211)
