WILSON, MRS. F. - (No other information). GOLIGHTLY CEMETERY LOCATION: Section 30-1S-2W. Approx. S/2 NW SE. GOLIGHTLY, SARAH - Sarah Golightly departed this Life February 17, 1847 in the 40th year of her age. Erected by R. H. Golightly. NOTE: According to folk tradition in the community, Sarah and her husband, Hugh Golightly, agreed to be buried five miles apart. They died within seven days of each other and even though her name is noted on Hugh's stone she is actually buried in this location. Sarah's marker in this cemetery is identical to that of Hugh's in the other cemetery as is the beautiful wrought iron fence surrounding the graves. Sarah Golightly's marker is the only legible one in this large plot, however, there are many unmarked graves and we located three slate markers which had crumbled beyond reading. We also counted ten graves marked by fieldstones. This cemetery is on land now (1970) owned by Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Gibson. Mrs. Gibson took us to the graves and pointed out the unmarked grave of a Campbell child. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson have respectfully and laboriously kept this cemetery cleaned of brush and undergrowth even though none of their own people are buried here. A road once ran along the west side of this cemetery and was the old Huntsville stage road but it has not been used for nearly a half century. 6 - (223)
