This 1815 record simply deals with the estates of Joseph Handcock and of William Hancock, both deceased. Notable Madison County pioneers LeRoy Pope (“Father of Huntsville”), Thomas Bibb (2nd Governor of Alabama), and John Withers (father-in-law of Clement Comer Clay, who was the 8th Governor of Alabama), were involved in the court action as “gentlemen Justices of the Invrum” (Interim) for the Territory.
