From a communication sent by e-mail from John Rankin to Beverly Curry in early 2005, the relationships between the Cooper, Penland, Lea (“Lee”), and Timmons families of the pre-arsenal lands are summarized as follows:
Houston H. Lee apparently died before April 25 of 1847, per Probate records that show Alexander Penland being Administrator of the estate of Houston H. Lee on that date. Alexander Penland made “Final Settlement” of Houston Lea's
