TOWNSEND-COOVER CEMETERY (17) LOCATION: Section 24-1S-1W. N/2 SW NE. Off North Memorial Parkway. Three and one-quarter miles south of the Tennessee line and one-half mile west off the Parkway. Note: A rusty wrought iron fence surrounds this graveyard but the fence and the gate are in excellent repair as is the cemetery. TOWNSEND, MUNTFORD R. - Sacred to the Memory of Muntford R. Townsend, born October 21, A. D., 1822, died at half past four P. M. June 2nd, A. C., 1859, aged 37 years, 8 months and 11 days. Not lost but gone before. (Box tomb). TOWNSEND, REBECA F. - Rebeca F., wife of Muntford R. Townsend, born Decr. 11th, 1829, died May 13th, 1851. She was lovely and possessed all the virtues that adorn the female character. (Box tomb). R. and Riller X. Townsend, born December 24th, 1832, died January 19, 1853. (Box tomb). TOWNSEND, PARKES - In Memory of Parkes Townsend, born in Lunenburg County, Virginia, Feby. 22, 1795, Emigrated to Madison County, Ala., 1827, died Dec. 28, 1849, aged 54 yrs., 10 Mo., 6 days. (Box tomb). TOWNSEND, MARY SIMS - In Memory of Mother, Mary Sims, wife of Parkes Townsend, born in Lunenburg Co., Va., Feb. 27th, 1802, died Nov. 8th, 1888. (Box tomb). TOWNSEND, SAMUEL C. - In Memory of Samuel C. Townsend, bom Aug. 13, 1825, died April 6, 1861, aged 35 yrs., 7 mo's., and 23 days. How blest the righteous when he dies. (Box tomb). Note: Samuel C.
