A check of the land transitions in Sections 19 and 20 of T5-R1W in the indexes prepared by G. W. Jones and Sons, Inc., show the ownership trail through the 1800s. Neither Alexander Penland nor his wife Isabell J. Penland appear at any time as owners either buying or selling land in the sections that contain the Cooper - Penland Cemetery. Accordingly, it must be concluded that permission to use the cemetery for the Penland family burials must have been granted by owners at the time of need by their neighbor. Yet, it would be strange that anyone with so much of their own land would use another family's cemetery - except for the marriage connection back to the Allison family. 35 - (2759)
