Jordans Chapel Cemetery Summary Report, page 52

Hearings were held to determine the appropriateness of the proposed sale of the land and slaves of Henry Jordan's estate. Depositions were taken from William Lanford and George Horton regarding their [unbiased but knowledgeable] opinions about the necessity for the sale. Isham J. Fennell, son of Temperance Jordan Fennell (who was Henry's sister), was also summoned for a deposition, but such a document was not found. It may be that the blood relationship to Henry disqualified Isham's participation. The documents below show the statements of William Lanford and George Horton in the deposition. 52 - (3206)
