May 22, 1823 Married Thursday evening last by REV. J. HILLHOUSE, Mr. JAMES B. GAGE to Miss SANDERS, daughter of CAPT. JEREMIAH SANDERS, all of Greene County. May 29, 1823 Departed this life Monday May 26th, Mrs. SOPHIA, consort of PLEASANT HENDERSON of Greene County. June 5, 1823 Married Thursday evening the 29th of May, Mr. THOMAS L. JONEGAN, to Miss SARAH HARDIN, daughter of MARK HARDIN, all of Greene Co. On the same day, Mr. CYRUS TORBERT, merchant of Erie to Miss HENLEY near that place. June 12, 1823 Married on Thursday June 5 by REV. J. HILLHOUSE, Mr. JAMES MEANS to Miss ELIZA PATTON, all of Greene County. July 3, 1823 Died on Saturday night last CYRUS TORBERT, Esq. Postmaster at Erie, Mr. TORBERT had acquired the esteem of all his acquaintances... July 16, 1823 Married Thursday last by REV. Mr. RYAN, Mr. MOSES M'WHIRTER to Miss ELIZABETH TATUM, all of Greene Co. July 17, 1823 Married Thursday evening the 9th, Mr. ALLEN M'DONALD of Greensborough to Miss KISSIAH WHITSETT, daughter of L(AWRENCE) WHITSETT, Esq. of Greene Co. Died last night of a lingering illness, Mr. ROBERT MILLER of this place; his friends are invited to attend the funeral from the house of Mr. HENRY SOSSAMAN this day at 4 o'clock p.m. July 31, 1823 Departed this life at his residence near Erie, after a short but severe illness on the 20th, JOHN H. CARSON, Esq. He removed from South Caroline to this county. Had inflammation of the brain. Left a widow and two small children. See our Vol. 14, p. 6 for his will. August 21, 1823 Departed this life, Mrs. MARTHA PICKENS, wife of Governor Pickens at the Governor's residence near this place on the 16th at about 5 o'clock p.m...Left a husband and four helpless children. Died Friday the 15th, DOCTOR SILAS MAGUIRE at his residence near this place. September 11, 1823 ANN LAWSON, administratrix of the estate of JAMES LAWSON, deceased. September 25, 1823 Departed this life, HENRY Y. WEBB, Judge of the Third Judicial Circuit of this state; died at his private residence in Greene County 10. - (3310)
