Died in Erie (Greene County) on the 23d instant at the residence of CAPTAIN PEASE after a short but severe illness, Mrs. ELIZA CAROLINE LA VERGY, consort of Mr. PHILANDER LA VERGY and eldest daughter of DR. WALTER 0. BICKLEY. She left her husband, mother and many relations to mourn her loss. July 23, 1836 Married near Clinton in this county on Tuesday the 4th instant by HON. WILLIAM B. STREET, Mr. JAMES D. M'ALLISTER to Mrs. MARY C. FLEMING. Note: She was dau. of JOHN & MARY (LEWIS) MOORE & widow of JOHN FLEMING. See our Vol. 87 pp. 25 & 89. Also at the same time and place, Mr. ULYSSES M'ALLISTER to Miss SARAH F. FORTSON, all of this county. July 30, 1836 Died in Perry County on the 25th ult. Mr. G.W. CHARLES, late of North Carolina in the 18th year of his age. He died from an accidental discharge of his gun. August 13, 1836 Married near this place on Thursday evening last by REV. Mr. WITHERSPOON, Mr. JAMES MCCANN, formerly of Abbeville, South Carolina to Miss SUSAN M'DONALD daughter of Mr. JAMES M'DONALD of this county. Married at Mr. WILLEFORD's at the Baptist Institute near this place on the same evening by REV. Mr. LOWERY, Mr. MILTON CALLOWAY to Miss CAROLINE M. SMITH, all of this county. See our Vol. 87 p. 25 for marriage rec. which says CATHARINE. In 1850 Census Sumter Co. Ala. he 40 b Ga., she 36 b S.C. Died at his residence near Erie (Greene County) on Sunday morning last after a few days illness, Mr. THOMAS WILLIAMS, formerly of North Carolina, but for the last ten years a resident of this county. Died near Marion in Perry County on the 1st instant of bilious fever, Mr. JOHN HILLHOUSE, for many years an inhabitant of this place. Died at Mr. TARVER's Wood Landing on Alabama River, on the 3rd instant, a stranger left by the Steamboat Pioneer. August 20, 1836 Married in this place on Thursday evening last by REV. Mr. HATCH, Mr. GEORGE NOBLE, Merchant, to Miss ELIZABETH SIMS, all of this place. See our Vol. 87 p. 25. Died at Livingston, Sumter County on Friday the 12th instant after a few days illness in the 29th year of her age, Mrs. ELIZABETH MARRAST, consort of Mr. WILLIAM MARRAST, formerly of this place. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She left a husband and infant daughter. State of Alabama-Greene County. HENRY S. MASON, administrator with will annexed of MARTIN M'CALL, deceased. August,27,,1836 Died in this place Tuesday morning last after a short illness, Mrs. L. MOORE, consort of Mr. S. MOORE, late of Connecticut. September 3, 1836 Died at his residence 8% miles southeast of Tuscaloosa of inflammatory bilious fever, REV. H(ENRY) W. HART, son of JOHN and MARY HART, aged 38 years and 22 days, native of Richland District, South Carolina; served an apprenticeship in the coach-making business in Columbia, after which he moved to Edgefield village, where in 1822 he married HARRIET W. BEAMS, daughter of JAMES and REBECCA BEAMS and on the Friday following, he joined the Baptist Church. In 1826, he moved to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. In 1834, he was licensed to preach, the next year ordained to preach by the Gilgal Church and had pastoral charge of Little Sandy Church when he died. September 10, 1836 Married on Thursday evening last by REV. Mr. HATCH, Mr. SAMUEL COWEN of this place to Miss MARTHA EVANS, daughter of Mr. STITH EVANS of this county.
