August 13, 1875 Mrs. ELIZABETH R. STARNES (8A), wife of Mr. F.L. STARNES and oldest daughter of JAMES H. BELL, Esq. died at her. residence in Warsaw, Sumter Co. Tuesday the 27th of July aged 33 years 9 months and 25 days. It was at Salem, N.C. she laid the foundation of a practical education. At. Greensboro, N.C. she received all the accomplishments of a more popular education...Mrs. STARNES 5 months before her death stood by the bedside of a departing brother. She leaves a husband, father, sister and 3 brothers...A.G.G. Tribute of Respect - Mrs. LILLY R. STARNES, who died 27 July in 34th year by Johnson Grange No. 233. August 20, 1875 Mr. W.E. PERT of Pike, 71 years of age, walked 6 miles to Troy on election day to cast his vote. August 27, 1875 ELIAS and JENNIE MURPHREE of Murphree's Valley, celebrated their golden wedding the 20th. REV. DEFOREST ALLGOOD, JEREMIAH ELLIS and Mrs. PATSY ELLIS, witnesses to their marriage 50 years ago were present. September 3, 1875 R.G. MCMALION, Jr. aged about 16 years, son of Mr. A.W. MCMALION met with a fatal accident on the 21st. September 10, 1875 Notice to non-residents - State of Alabama-Sumter Co. Probate Court. October 1, 1875-Friday Mr. WILLIAM KIRKLAND, an old citizen of this place died suddenly on Wednesday near town. Had been in bad health for some months. Leaves a large family.
