March 17, 1876-Friday Died near Brewersville Feb. 16, MARY E., daughter of FELIX and DORA MCMILLAN... The wife of Mr. HENRY MCDANIEL (48NC, wife in 1850 was DELILAH 44T) died last Friday at Sumterville of paralytic stroke. Mr. G.W. ROGERS aged about 30 died at the residence of his father in law, Mr. D(AVID) W. HOODS (29SC) on the 9th. (Married to MARY S. HOODS (1848-71)) CAPT. JESSE A GIBBS (37V) who took a prominent part in movement to establish a city court at Gainesville is writing a history of his evenful life. Extracts: "I was born in Prince Edward Co. Va. May 29, 1812... My mother was a RANDY and married my father in Prince Edward Co. near Burksfield, 40 miles west of Richmond. I left there with my uncle when he came there to draw his legacy from his grandfather. My uncle lived in Kentucky. I went with him home. I was 7 years old when I left my parents' house."... ADAMS, a soldier of the War of 1812 died in St. Clair Co. on the 6th in the 83rd year of his age. April 7, 1876-Friday Mr. PHILIP WILLINGHAM (41NC), an old and respected citizen of Ramsey's Station neighborhood died on Monday. Had been in feeble health for some months. Notice to Non-residents- Citizen's Mutual Insurance Co. versus GEORGE A. BROWN, Sr. & Jr., WILLIAM L. BROWN, GEORGE W. HINTON GEORGE W. BATES and AMANDTINE R. ALLEN, executrix etc. Each defendant is of full age; WILLIAM L. BROWN resides in Tenn.; GEORGE A. BROWN, Sr. and Jr. reside in West Point, Lowndes Co. Miss.; GEORGE W. HINTON resides in Brookville, Noxubee Co. Miss. April 14, 1876 Mr. G. SID. WHITE, living near Gaston and one of the most respected citizens of South Sumter was drowned. A number of our citizens went to Meridian Tuesday to attend the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. R(OBERT) F. HOUSTON (48NC, wife ANN 48T), former residents of this place. Yesterday was the 50th anniversary. DR. ISAAC F. PEARSON of Gainesville died on the 31st aged 39. April 21, 1876 Notice to Non-residents- TO: MARTHA R. HARRIS, wife of ROBERT HARRIS, SALLIE V. (1A) wife of LEVI HURLBUTT (M. 1869) and FANNIE LEE EARLY. TAKE NOTICE THAT Mrs. CARRIE WILLINGHAM has filed the will of PHILIP WILLINGHAM. Died at his late residence in Sumter Co. on 3 April, GREEN W. GRANT (D in Con-46SC). Born in Greenville District, S.C. 6 January 1803 and emigrated to Greene Co. Ala. at an early age and from thence he removed to Sumter about 1836... April 28, 1876 Married on the 25th at residence of Mrs. BILLUPS, in Sumter Co. Ala. by REV. J.M. PATTON, Mr. CHARLES E. HAGEN and Mrs. JANE SWANN. May 5, 1876 Little EDDIE WINDHAM aged 4 months and little MARY WINDHAM aged 3 years died, the former on the 4th and latter on the 10th of Oct. 1875. Poem dedicated to Mrs. M.A. WINDHAM. May 12, 1876 Married on the 20th, Mr. FRANCIS L. STARNES and Miss AGGIE BARNES, both of Warsaw, this county. 38. - (3338)
