NEW SHARON CEMETERY LICKSKILLET LOCATION: Section 21-1S-2W - N/2 N/2 N/2 NW/4. On Charity Lane in the church yard of the New Sharon Church of God. "Lickskillet" was the name of the pioneer settlement at this place now called New Sharon. ALLEN, JAMES H. - Bom Aug. 8, 1876 - died Dec. 15, 1962. Father. ) ) Dbl. ALLEN, MRS. BILLINGS, BUFORD D. - 1904 - 1953 ) Note: At the time I checked this cemetery (April, 1970) Annie B. Billings' death date had not been carved on her stone, however, there was a grave here which indicates her death prior to April, 1970. F. - 1882 - 1960 HOBBS, IDA - 1859 - 1937 HOBBS, JOSEPH WILEY - Died Feb. 4, 1968 aged 78 yrs. (Funeral marker). NOTE: There are seven slate markers in what appears to be the Hobbs section of this cemetery. The markers are of soft slate and have weathered far beyond reading. They are probably the oldest markers in the cemetery as this particular type of slate ceased being used in the early 1800's with few exceptions.
