Married in Atlanta, Ga. at residence of bride's brother, W.B. LOWE, Esq. by REV. Mr. COOK, Mr. J(OSIAH) L. SCRUGGS (34) of Livingston, Ala. and Mrs. FANNIE C. GARY. (nee LOWE 1822-96) The health of JONA. BLISS (50Vt.), Esq. of Gainesville had improved sufficiently to enable him to start on his annual visit to his native state, Massachusetts. (Born Randolph, Vt.) July 14, 1876 Married on the 9th at residence of bride's mother by REV. J.M. PATTON, Mr. JOSEPH B. PATTON and Miss W.A. BEVILL. July 21, 1876 DANIEL CARROLL died in Calhoun Co. June 16 aged 99. He was a pensioner for services in War of 1812. Mr. JOHN N. SOWELL, a citizen of Conecuh Co. was shot and killed on night of 3rd by parties unknown. He was a Member of Democratic Executive Committee. July 28, 1876 Died on the 2nd, the infant of S.V. and MOLLIE HORN. The wife of MAJ. THOMAS K. JACKSON of Gainesville died on the 13th. Daughter of the late JUDGE REAVIS and she leaves a family of several children most of them of a tender age. ELIZABETH M. HARRIS, deceased. RICHARD M. HARRIS, adm'r. August 4, 1876 Married on the 19th by REV. J.M. PATTON, Mr. W.W. GARLAND and Miss M.J. GRADY, all of this county. Died in Livingston on the morning of 31st of typhoid fever, Miss MALLIE C. daughter of Mrs. E.J. UNDERWOOD in her 19th year. (See p.7) August 11, 1876-Friday Married on the 2nd by LEWELLIN LEWIS, Esq. at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. S. FORRESTER, Mr. JAMES A BRAKEFIELD and Mrs. MINERVA SWINDLE, all of this county. Each had been twice married previously and each has two children. Mrs. ASA AMASON (45NC), one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Sumter died on the 8th after a lingering illness. (M. Nov. 20, 1838 SARAH H. SIMMS. See Vol. 128, p.5.) Mr. ELNATHAN TARTT (34NC), a former citizen of Sumter died at Lauderdale, Miss. Sunday last after a protracted illness. State Items - Mrs. TOWNSEND, an old and highly respected citizen of Mobile and mother in law of BISHOP MCTYEIRE of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, died recently in Nashville, Tenn. August 18, 1876 Died on the 13th at the residence of her brother in law, DR. A(LEX) M. GARBER near this place, Miss CONSTANCE L., daughter of Mr. JAMES RHODES. JENKINS, FRANKLIN P. JENKINS, BENJAMIN C. JENKINS, HENRY JENKINS, HATTIE JENKINS, ROBERT B. JONES, JEFFERSON B. ALLGOOD, DEFORREST ALLGOOD, JEFFERSON B. GRAHAM, DEFORREST GRAHAM, NANNIE S. GRAHAM, WIOLIAM GRAHAM, ELIZABETH PIERCE and JOHN PIERCE. This day dame LEWIS M. STONE, administrator and NANNIE A STONE, administratrix of MARTHA W. HAIR, deceased. August 25, 1876 Mr. W.H. NEVILLE of Preston Beat and aged 90 years was carried to the Polls on the 7th and voted the Democratic ticket. (Goodspeed's Miss. Memoirs, 1891. WM. H.
