Died near Sumterville, March 21, Mrs. MARY ALEXANDRIA JACKSON aged 22-3-14, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.P. BOBBITT and granddaughter of Mrs. MARY SLEDGE. Methodist. Married Mr. C.M. HAYES (63SC) , who resides 6 miles east of Blount Springs is 95 and has twice been married and is the father of 21 children. CAPT. W.A. WILLIAM MCPHERSON, a prominent citizen and physician of this county died of pneumonia Monday morning at his residence at Belmont in prime of manhood. May 5, 1877 WILLIAM ELROY BOYD, eldest son of ROBERT and REBECCA BOYD was born near Paynesville in this county February 4, 1851 and departed this life near the home of his childhood March 30, 1877 aged 26. Left fatherless at the age of 12, he provided for his mother and younger brothers and sisters... Presbyterian. Married November 12, 1873 Miss ALICE RHYNE, and also an infant... Mr. WILLIAM F. TURNER (29V), an old and substantial citizen of Sumter died Thursday last after an illness of several months. HON. R(OBT.) B. WALLER (44V), one of the oldest and best citizens of Greensboro died of paralysis of the heart on the 20th. May 11, 1877 SALLIE ALBERTA SLEDGE was born in Sumter Co. near Horn's Bridge February 7, 1858. Methodist, since August 21, 1876. Died at residence of her uncle, DR. W(M.) H. SLEDGE near Sumterville April 9. Died at her residence in Sumter Co. April 27, Mrs. E(LIZA) A. THORNTON (47V, wife of JAS.), born in Orange Co. Va. Feb. 4, 1804. Excellent wife and mother. Mrs. MARY VENTRESS, an aged lady of Bullock Co. was burned to death. May 18 1877 Died in Meridian, Miss, on the 13th, infant son of F.E. and ADA W. HULL. Died of pneumonia at his residence 8 miles west of Livingston, on the 13th, DR. WM. H. SLEDGE (28T), in his 58th year, son of JOSHUA and MARY L. SLEDGE and was born in Tennessee. While quite young he removed with his parents to North Alabama and in 1843 located in Sumter Co. where he resided up to time of his death. In 1848 he married Miss A. M(ELVINA) SIMMONS (18A), daughter of Mr. LEWIS SIMMONS, Sr. an honored citizen of Marengo, who with 6 children survive him. DR. SLEDGE had been a practicing physician for many years and also a planter...Was in the Confederate army. May 25, 1877 Married in Starkville, Miss, on 16th, COL. E.K. FULTON of Birmingham, Ala. and Miss NENA MONTGOMERY of the former place. Died at his residence in Preston Beat, this county, on 3rd, COL. WM. NEVILLE in his 91st year. 46. - (3346)
