PEAVY to Miss MARY MUNDELL (4 Miss., daughter of JOHN), all of this county. Died on the 7th of December at her residence near Gaston in this county, Mrs. W(ILMOTH) M. JONES, relict of W(ILLIAM) D. JONES in her 65th year. Native of South Carolina but for the last 25 years a resident of this county. Member of Methodist Episcopal Church and was uniformly beloved and respected. She sent an only son to the army in defense of her native south, who fell a victim to disease. She leaves a bereaved and much afflicted family. Departed this life at his residence in this place on the 22nd at 8 o'clock P.M., DR. NEWTON J. HAMILL. He was born in Eutaw, Greene County, Alabama March 31, 1836 and 9 years since removed to this place where for several years he taught school. Having graduated at an early age in Dentistry....Husband and father....In a conversation with his kinsman, REV. A. R. SCARBOROUGH, he said that his greatest regret was to leave his wife and little children. (Ancestor of CARR COLLINS, Dallas, Texas, 1960, says he married 1860 as her 1st husband, SUSAN A. PORTER.) January 5, 1867 Married on the 13th of December, 1866 at the residence of the bride's father by REV. W. H. PASLEY, Mr. JAMES T. WREN to Miss C. W.
