August 31> 1867 Died on the 27th in this place of congestion of the brain, WILLIE ERNEST, infant son of WILLIAM J. and ANNIE M. RAWLS. WILLIE was born December 13, 1866.... September 7, 1867 Died of inflammation of the stomach on the 15th in Lauderdale County, Mississippi at the residence of her husband, SARA, wife of OWEN PIGFORD in her 61st year. Left a husband and children and large circle of friends. September 21, 1867 Died in this county on the 6th, SARAH, consort of Mr. SAMUEL POND in her 61st year. She was born in Anson County, N.C. and moved to this county with her husband in 1847. Baptist. Leaves large family.... September 28, 1867 Died at father's residence in Hale County on the 12th of congestive chill, WILLIAM PEMBROKE, oldest son of Mr. F. L. and Mrs. J. T. SIMS aged about 6 years. Died at her residence in Sumter County, Mrs. SARA J. wife of J. C. ELLIOTT and daughter of JEFFERSON and HULDAH HORD. Born in Spotsylvania County, Virginia October 7, 1835, moved with her parents to Alabama and in 1857 joined the Baptist Church. Leaves a husband and two little children and many relatives.... October 5, 1867 Died in Livingston on September 16, 1867 after a long and painful illness, ROBERT ARRINGTON (49 NC), who was born in Nash County, North Carolina on March 8, 1801, was married to P(ATIENCE) A. WRIGHT (43 NC) on June 17, 1824. The deceased moved to Sumter County, Alabama in 1837 and continued to reside here until his death...Sympathy to widow. October 12, 1867 Died of1 congestive fever at Gaston, Alabama on September 27, 1867, ELIZABETH (44 G), wife of MATTHEW A. MARSHALL (46 G), after a brief but exceedingly painful illness. Born in Jones County, Georgia November 3, 1807 but had resided for many years in Sumter County...Methodist for 25 years...Good wife and mother. November 9, 1867 Married Tuesday morning, October 15th at the residence of and by REV. E. PHILIPS in Sumter County, Mr. CHARLES C. CROUGH of Selma to Miss JEANNIE P. SMITH of Sumter County. Married on the evening of the 22nd, by REV. E. PHILIPS at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. GEO. NEATHERY (7 A, son of JAS. S.) of Mississippi to Miss FLORENCE McREE (3 A, daughter of WM.) of Sumter County. Died in this county at the residence of her parents Thursday Oct. 31, little JIMMIE, youngest daughter of COL. I. SILLIMAN aged 9 years 1 month and 21 days... November 23, 1867 Died on the 18th near Bennett's Station, Sumter County, JOHN E. BAKER, formerly of Missouri and aged about 40. Tribute of respect by Livingston Lodge #41. Died October 18, 1867 near Gainesville, MARTHA SPEIGHT, wife of ROBERT E. HIBBLER and only daughter of the late HON. EDWARD G. SPEIGHT aged 21. Died at her residence in Sumter County on the 20th at 4 A.M. Mrs. ELIZA H. SLEDGE, wife of A(LBERT) G. SLEDGE (38 T) in her 51st year. Member of Protestant Methodist Episcopal Church...Leaves husband and children and relations. December 7, 1867 Married on the 26th at the residence of W. SHELBY by REV. S. J. BINGHAM, Mr. WM.
