Native of Newbery District, South Carolina. In early childhood, her parents moved to what was then Greene County, Alabama, now Hale County. While young, she connected herself with Mount Zion Presbyterian Church then under the care of REV. ISAAC HADDEN. In 1832, she married Mr. BENJ. J(AMES) MITCHELL with whom she lived and raised a large family of children; her companion was taken away April 1st, 1859...(Mrs. JENKINS book has his tombstone, died April 1857.) For a number of years before her death, she was afflicted with a lingering and painful disease from which she never expected to recover... June 27, 1868 Died in Greensboro on the 13th of inflammation of the bowels, MAGGIE WARD, infant daughter of Mr. G. G. and Mrs. L. H. WESTCOTT aged 10 months and 3 days. J. C. BENNETT, deceased.
