Gin house on plantation of WINFIELD S. BIRD 8 miles south of Eutaw burned. CALVIN TINKER of DeKalb County, Alabama was killed by the cars on the 25th and DR. JACK seriously injured. A. A. SMITH, Esq. of Eutaw was appointed Clerk of the Circuit Court of Greene County in place of SIDNEY WOMACK, deceased. October 22, 1869 A train of cars ran over and killed a Mr. HENDRICKS near Tuscumbia a few days ago. CHANCELLOR COCKE died very suddenly in Greenville on the afternoon of the 10th inst. (U of A 1863, COCKE, JOHN BINION, 1861, Montgomery, son of CHANCELLOR COCKE: b. Nov. 15, 1846.) ANDERSON MOSS, an old and highly respectable citizen of Talledega County was recently sent to lunatic asylum at Tuscaloosa. (Son of E. MOSS, REV. SOL.) Mr. JAMES H. DUVALL, one of the former proprietors of the Battle House has assumed its management since the death of CAPT. GODFREY (Mobile). ISAAC COOK, mailing clerk in Selma Times office was killed a few days ago by accidental discharge of gun in hands of a friend. CAPT. A. M. GODFREY, proprietor of the Battle House, Mobile, committed suicide a few days ago. Mr. JAMES M. SLEDGE and lady, Mrs. JOSEPH BORDEN, whose husband is now in that state and Mr. ALEXANDER MAULDIN, all of Hale County left Greensboro last Monday week for California. GEN. DANIEL MORGAN BRADFORD of Huntsville died on the 13th aged 76. He was Capt, of "Carroll's Life Guard" at the battle of New Orleans and was appointed by PRESIDENT JACKSON Receiver of Land Office at Huntsville, a position which he held until removed by GRANT. On last Friday night, Mr. JAMES CARPENTER, a useful and highly respectable citizen of this county was shot and killed by an unknown. From Eutaw Whig. Married on the 19th at the residence of the bride's father by REV. A. R. SCARBOROUGH, Mr. J. M. SULLIVAN to Miss 0. H. TERRELL, all of this county. Died on the 18th in South Sumter after a short illness, MATTIE ALMA, daughter of W. A. and M. A. SILLIMAN aged 4 years 1 month and 2 days. October 29, 1869 ANDREW HENRY SMITH, a young man living near Huntsville suicide on the 14th. November 5, 1869 Married on the 2nd by REV. W. H. PASLEY, Mr. EWD. B. TARTT to Miss JOSEPHINE BULLOCK (14 A), all of this county. Married on the 3rd by REV. J. K. RYAN, Mr. Z. M. HOIT to Miss M. E. SCARBOROUGH, all of this county. Died on Saturday, October 30 near Belmont, LEONIDAS RUSHING aged about 42. November 12, 1869 Died in Warsaw, October 18, 1869 at the residence of his step-father, BENJAMIN WHITE, Esq. after a brief but severe illness, THOMAS E. AMASON, son of the late GEORGE AMASON of Greene County, Alabama aged 20 years and 25 days... WM. D. HUMPHREY, Democrat has been elected to the legislature from Madison County. TRENTON FOSTER was killed near Tuscaloosa a few days ago by being thrown from a buggy. CAPT. WILLIAM FORREST, brother of GEN. FORREST killed a Mr. JOHN S. SOUTH at Marion last Monday night. An old and respectable citizen named WATKINS residing near Opelika was murdered and robbed by one of his hired negroes on the 28th. November 26, 1869 JESSE COX, a citizen of Talladega County was killed by a negro on Monday of last week. Miss JENNIE BOYD died in Eufaula on the 15th from overdose of chloroform to relieve toothache. 93. - (3393)
