May 6, 1870 Mr. TAYLOR BRADSHAW, son of ROBERT BRADSHAW of Gainesville, Ala. was born in Lexington, Virginia on 4 March 1841 and died in the city of St. Louis 27 March 1870 aged 29 years and 23 days... Tribute of respect by Livingston Lodge #41 on death of L. B. HUMPHRIES. "The lodge has lost a faithful member, his wife a true and devoted husband, his family an affectionate brother." SAMUEL H. Married in Putnam County, Ga. 1821. SUSAN E. PHILLIPS who applied for pension in 1878 while a resident of Cleburne County, Alabama.) May 13, 1870 LYNN BOYD HUMPHRIES was born in Livingston, Madison County, Mississippi December 25, 1842 and died at Gaston, Sumter County, Alabama April 24, 1870. His parents were from South Carolina. In 1845 his father, T. J. HUMPHRIES moved from Madison to Handsboro, Miss, where he now resides. In 1861, L. B. HUMPHRIES joined the Confederate army and surrendered with his little band of soldier-comrades from Sumter at the last post held by Confederate army east of the Mississippi River...In August, 1866, he married Miss JULIA HINES, who survives him. For the past two years, her life has been one of sorrow. She has mourned a mother and two infant children and now her husband... May 20, 1870 Married on the 10th at the residence of ROBERT LAWLER by REV. J. F. EVANS, Mr. FELIX G. McMILLAN and Miss DORA GILLESPIE, both of this county. On the 17th by same at the residence of Mr. A. D. FORTNER, Mr. THOMAS H. HAWKINS and Miss SUSAN M. BURNOUGH, both of this county. Married on the 12th in Marengo County by REV. W. H. PASLEY, Mr. M. W. DAVIS of Sumter and Miss LUCY SIMMONS of Marengo. Mr. WM. ROWE of Greenville fell dead on the sidewalk a few days ago. The Huntsville Advocate says that on the night of the 3rd in Blountsville, Mr. WM. HIGGINS, a jeweler was called to his door and shot dead by some unknown persons. May 27, 1870 Married on the 19th at the residence of Mrs. S. ESKRIDGE by REV. C. B. DuBOSE, DR. L. E. FORD of Mississippi and Miss E. E. ESKRIDGE. June 17, 1870 Married near Mayesville, Sumter District, South Carolina on the 12th by REV. J. L. WILSON, D.D. Mr. JOHN S. MOORE of Sumter County, Alabama and Miss SALLIE M. COIT of Cheraw, S. C. Died near Lauderdale, Miss. May 20, 1870, Mrs. E. K. EASON in her 33rd year. In her 12th or 13th year she joined the Presbyterian Church. June 24, 1870 ALBERT LANCASTER (40 V), native of Orange County, Virginia was born May 10, 1810 and died at his residence of pneumonia on 19 May 1870. Joined Baptist Church at Jones' Creek in this county in August, 1850... July 8, 1870 Married on 30 June at the residence of REV. J. P. MAY by REV. A. R. SCARBOROUGH, Mr. T. W. MAY and Miss ANNIE A. BROWN all of this county. Died on 22 June in Livingston, JULIA, wife of Mr. GEORGE WILSON in her 33rd year. Tribute of respect on death of Bro. A(DAM) S. McCAIN (14 A, son of ELIZ.) by Hermon Lodge no. 106, Sumtervllle (dated June 11, 1870). Tender sympathy to the widow and children. 97. - (3397)
