January 24, 1873 Married on the evening of Jan. 16th at the residence of L. F. WHITEHEAD, Esq. in the vicinity of Livingston by REV. J. SIMPSON FRIERSON, Mr. JOHN SPROTT and Miss MARY A. V. EVANS. Died in Sumter Co. Nov. 2, 1872 after a painful illness, PATRICK BOGEN MAY, SR. (51 NC) . Bom in Anson Co. N. C. April 3, 1799. Moved to Ala. in 1817 and settled near St. Stephens. Subsequently moved to Greene Co. and from there went to Belmont, Sumter Co. where he resided more than 30 years. Joined the Primitive Baptist Church over 30 years ago. January 31, 1873 ROBERT JOHNSON, an old and well-known citizen of Livingston died suddenly Tue. night. Was at work a few hours before his death. The wife of W. J. GILMORE, deceased, died in Montgomery last Friday. HON. N. W. NORRIS, ex-member of Congress from the 3rd Ala. District died in Montgomery last Sunday night. Mr. JOSEPH WARD (70 Del.), the oldest inhabitant of Huntsville died a few days ago aged 93. February 28, 1873 Married by REV. A. R. SCARBOROUGH at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. H. R. FOSS to Miss BETTIE M. MASON, all of this county. Tribute of respect to ALBERT H. IRBY, who lately died. Died at Ramsey's Station, Sumter Co. Sunday Feb. 16, of meningitis, W. 0. Died in Livingston on 6th, Miss LIZZIE HOUSTON, daughter of the late M. C. HOUSTON. On the 1st in Greene Co. Mr. D(AVID) B. PHILLIPS (28 T), a former citizen of Sumter. At Ramsey's Station, Sumter Co. Tuesday the 4th of meningitis, Mrs. HARRIET (GREY) SIMMS (20 SC), wife of W(ILLIAM) T. SIMMS (43 NC) aged about 45. Mrs. MARY S. HARRIS left yesterday for a temporary residence in Missouri. March 21, 1873 Died in Gaston, Sumter Co. of paralysis, MARTIN RUMLEY (Vol. 20, p. 6, 1850 Perry Co., 42 NC) on the morning of 11th aged 66 years 1 mo. and 22 days. Native of Beauford, N. C. where he lived to manhood. In 1835, he moved to Greene Co. Ala. where he married and resided till the fall of 1856, when he moved to Sumter Co. Left a devoted wife and four children. (M. in Greene Co. Ala. 1840 ELIZABETH, d. of FREDERICK TOLSON, Vol. 108, p. 7, Vol. 20, p. 6.) A few mornings ago, Mr. WM. GREEN (53 SC), an old citizen of Calhoun Co. suddenly fell down dead. Married in this county Tuesday the 18th by D(AVID) H. TROTT, Esq. Mr. ROBERT T. RODGERS to Miss ELIZABETH A. FREEMAN. March 28, 1873 Died in this county on 27th, Mrs. HARRIET PIPKIN (36 A, w. of ARCH.) aged 68. (She m. GODFREY HOLLEY (1.). She was dau. of W. BYRD.) Residence of Mrs. ELIZA HILDRETH in Pickens Co. burned on the 13th. L. V. B. MARTIN, Esq. died in Tuscaloosa last Sat. 113. - (3413)
