April 4, 1873 Died in Livingston 22 March of bronchitis, Mrs. PATIENCE A. ARRINGTON, (43 NC), widow of the late ROBERT ARRINGTON (49 NC), Esq. in 65th year. Mrs. TEMPIE M. SCRUGGS (30 NC), daughter of GEN. JOSEPH (61 NC) and MARY J. ARRINGTON (60 NC) was born in Nash Co. N. C. Sept. 29, 1817. In childhood, she removed to Sumter Co. where she married JOSIAH L. SCRUGGS (34 V) May 17, 1838. (Mrs. JENKINS copied March 17, may be she is right.) Joined the M. E. Church in 1844 and died of pneumonia at her residence in Livingston March 31. Died in this place on 13 March, DR. BLAKE LITTLE aged 80 years and 3 months. Born in Edgecombe Co. N. C. December 13, 1793. First moved from N. C. to Greene Co. Ala. in 1823; subsequently moved back to N. C. and again moved to Ala. in 1830 and located in Pickens Co. and in 1832 settled in Sumter Co. In 1848 he moved to the West where he lived until about three years ago when becoming helpless from paralysis he returned to Alabama. Last 6 months spent with his daughter, Mrs. CAROLINE A. BELL. Served in Legislature of Alabama in 1839, 40 and '41. Mason, Methodist Protestant Church. WILLIAMSON JORDAN, deceased. SAMUEL SPROTT, administrator de bonis non. HILLIARD J. Va. where he lived 30 years; migrated to Belmont 1857, Presbyterian; member of House of Representatives 1869 to fill unexpired term of BENJ. INGE; elected in 1892 by 800 majority. April 11, 1873 Montgomery Advance of 6th contains sketches of two negro legislators. April 18 1873 Died near Livingston on 26 March, Mrs. EDNA M. RHODES (34 NC), wife of JAMES RHODES (45 NC) aged about 57. On 2 (2 Mar as Mrs. J. copied it) of consumption in Gainesville, Mrs. HENRIETTA MOBLEY (50 Vt.), wife of GREEN B. MOBLEY, (50 SC) Esq. aged 73. (Article from Tuscaloosa News dated April 14, 1978: The Magnolia, an antebellum home owned by Mrs. DAISY McLELLAND FALLS, will be open for tours today, Saturday and Sunday. The home is located in Gainesville in Sumter County. The Sunday tours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on the other days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The admission charge is $3 and the proceeds will go to cancer research, Mrs. FALLS said.
