Died, JOHN MOORE SLEDGE, infant son of MARCUS P. and SUE C. SLEDGE, June 24. Died on Monday evening the 23, Mr. WM. J. McKERRALL of this county in Tuscaloosa. He was awaiting the graduation of his three daughters at Tuscaloosa Female College. Just one year ago, Mr. McKERRALL lost his wife, who was before her marriage a Miss MONETTE of Hale Co. Ala. We suppose he was about 40 years (Mrs. J. copied 41) of age. We knew him about 15 years ago. An old citizen of Mobile, AUGUSTUS GIRARD, a man of more than ordinary scientific attainments was drowned accidentally last week. July 11, 1873 Died at this place Sat. the 5th, LAURA, youngest child of I. C. and M. A. BROWN aged 1 year and 10 months. Mr. R. W. LAWLER, a former resident of this county died in Coahoma Co. Miss.-on June 1. Left a wife and five children who "purpose" returning to Sumter. July 18, 1873 COL. FRANK L. MILHOUS, a member of the Mobile firm of MILHOUS, SHIELDS & MORRING died in Dallas Co. on 11. July 25, 1873 JOEL M. KEY, deceased. J. G. HARRIS, administrator. August 1, 1873 On 23, Miss MATTIE DENT, a former resident of this place was married to CAPT. D. M. CURRIE of Miss. CAPT. CURRIE was formerly employed in the engineering dept, of the A & C Railroad Co. and spent some months in Livingston. The wife of SENATOR ROBINSON of the Chambers District died on 20th. Mrs. SALLIE BROWN of Conecuh Co. aged 104 is in good health and quite active. August 8, 1873 NOTICE TO NON-RESIDENTS: W. G. LITTLE ) In the Chancery Court versus ) of ANN E. SPENCE, et al) Sumter Co. Ala. The complainant believes ANN E. SPENCE and her husband, THEODORE SPENCE are non-residents of this state and reside in the state of Arkansas, Argento P.O.; and that ALICE CROOK and her husband MADISON CROOK, EVA GLENN and her husband, JAMES GLENN, MOLLIE MARR and her husband, JAMES MARR and WILLIAM P. HEBBARD are non-residents of this state and reside in West Point (White Co.), Arkansas, except ALICE CROOK and husband, whose P.O. is unknown; and that MOLLIE MARR is under 21 and over 14 and that WILLIAM P. HEBBARD is over 14 and under 21. August 15, 1873 MELISSA A. LEE ) versus ) In Chancery MARY G. WOODALL, et al) Sumter Co. Ala. JOHN M. LANSDON of Butler Co. (to Mrs. GLENN) is 96 years old and is still an active farmer. He has a son 70. There are 13 survivors of the War of 1812 residing in Butler Co., the youngest of whom is 77. August 22, 1873 Death of CHANCELLOR JAMES B. CLARK. A primitive letter from Blount Springs brings information that HON. JAMES B. CLARK died at that place on Sunday morning of cholera. He filled a prominent place in the Judiciary of the State for many years and the records of the Chancery and Supreme Courts bear testimony of his worth and ability. He was a native of Pa. Bedford County 1796 and was 77 years old at the time he died. Came to Alabama j.n 1822, having been licensed to practice law a short time previously and settled in Bibb Co. He subsequently settled in Cahaba after having filled one term in the Legislature from Bibb. Engaged in practice of law in Cahaba 8 years and met with great success. From Cahaba he moved to Eutaw, of which place he continued to his death a citizen. In 1863, CHANCELLOR CLARK resigned his office and became a private citizen and after the close of the war, engaged in the practice of law with his son, 116. - (3416)
